We went camping this weekend. Friday morning and afternoon was spent packing and making the 4 hour drive up to Pisgah. The first day was great...lots of kids (Boy Scouts were all over the place), Wolf borrowed a neighbor's bike and cruised the loop, and almost immediately after unpacking we went in search of salamanders with a Volunteer. Skylar caught a crawfish and Wolf nabbed himself a water strider.
During the night is when the rain started, and kept raining, and raining and raining. There was an attempt to pick blueberries but we were too late - they were picked out. At the end of the day we hit the huge all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet and decided to pack it up and drive home at 7:00pm that night after hearing a rain forecast for Sunday. We hope to make one more camping trip before the weather turns cold, but so far we are 0 - 3 this summer for a rain-free camp trip. :(
